You may or may not have ever heard of a mantra. It’s really just a fancy way of saying a phrase. Generally, mantras are motivational or inspirational in nature, and people use them to stay focused on their goals in life. When it comes to your mental health, a few good mantras can go a long way. They can help you wade through all the garbage that life throws at you and keep your eye on the prize. If you need a little help staying mentally healthy and focused, check out these three mantras that may be just what you need.

Everything Changes Eventually

This is just an easier way of saying “this too shall pass,” which you’ve probably heard before. The truth is that nothing ever stays the same. Are you happy right now? It’ll change. Sad? It’ll change. Mad, excited, frustrated? All things are changing all of the time, so there’s no reason to get too stuck on any particular situation. This can really help your mental health when you’re feeling low. Just remember that everything changes eventually, and ride the wave until it’s over.

No One is Perfect

Seriously, don’t forget that there is not a perfect human on the face of the planet. This is easy to forget when we feel that we have done something silly or foolish. We beat ourselves up about it, live the moment over and over, and never let it die. Let. It. Die. No one is perfect, and literally everyone has done multiple stupid and ridiculous things in their life. Your moment isn’t any worse than anyone else’s, so cut yourself a little slack and let yourself move past it.

You Can Be Anything

If you want to be a unicorn or bigfoot, you’re a little out of luck. But, for the most part, you can do almost anything that you set your mind to. Do you want to be a doctor? You can totally do that. Want to run a marathon? Just start walking. It’s true that there will be some limitations and maybe a few things that you can’t ultimately make happen, but with some serious hard work and determination, we are capable of incredible feats. Start the journey, set goals, get busy, and enjoy the ride.

Our mental health is attacked every single day. Through images we see in the media, bullies insulting us, and general life just getting in the way, it might feel like you’re never going to get anywhere. The truth is that you’re already somewhere, and if you don’t like it, change it. Use these mantras to keep you focused, positive, and moving in the right direction.
