Improve Allergy Symptoms With Perilla

As grateful as I always am for the arrival of spring (warmer weather, Easter celebrations, and bright colors abound!), I always seem to forget, until it’s too late, the many allergies and horrible allergy symptoms that this season brings.

However, in all honesty, allergies really can affect many people at any time of the year, regardless of what season it may or may not be. I don’t know about you, but I know that allergy medications are not only potentially risky, but they very rarely even work for me. If I get any kind of effect at all from allergy medications, it’s that I almost immediately start to feel tired and I really don’t want to do much more than take a long nap. Unfortunately, I usually have to be awake during the day, so I’m essentially forced to stumble through the hours bleary eyed and groggy – and that’s on top of the runny nose, watery eyes, and scratchy throat that didn’t get cleared up by the medication! I’m sure more than a few of you will agree with me on that.

The good news is that there is hope for us allergy sufferers everywhere. There are more than a few natural remedies that we can use and rely on to help us get through our worst allergy symptoms, as I found out by reading a great and highly informative article by Care 2.

In addition to using aromatherapy and chiropractic adjustments as natural allergy treatment methods, there is a little known herb that can work wonders to fight off our worst allergies. Perilla, which is scientifically known as Perilla frutescens, is part of the mint family, and it is an herb that can be used to banish symptoms of allergies. Extract of perilla has been scientifically proven to treat such symptoms as nasal congestion, eye irritation, skin rashes and bumps, sinusitis, and even asthma that is related to allergies and allergic reactions. This is mostly due to the active ingredient known as rosmarinic acid, also known as rosmarinic extract, which essentially acts as an anti inflammatory agent to stop allergic reactions from happening inside the body, while also making sure to prevent future allergic reactions from ever occurring. You can use perilla extract or even dried and crushed perilla leaves in order to start reaping its benefits immediately. Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any new supplement or drug.
